From Costa Rica To The Alamo City

From the colorful landscapes of Costa Rica to the bustling neighborhoods of San Antonio, Gustavo Alfaro’s story is one of growth and gratitude. Moving from his home country to the United States came with challenges, but each step shaped the hardworking, positive person he is today.

Now proud to call San Antonio home, Gustavo loves the city’s cultural richness and the connections he builds with new people every day. As a Senior Technician at Wright Home Services, he finds joy not only in solving problems but also in serving a diverse community with a genuine passion for helping others.

A New Beginning In The HVAC Industry

Gustavo Alfaro

Gustavo’s journey into the HVAC trade is one of perseverance and purpose. When earning a degree in graphic design in Costa Rica, he met his wife while she was studying Spanish there. The two married, moved to the United States and started building a life together.

Adjusting wasn’t easy — especially when he first arrived without knowing English. After several challenging years in Virginia, the couple relocated to San Antonio, where Gustavo’s wife encouraged him to explore a new career path.

Together, they researched skilled trades, and the HVAC industry immediately stood out. With his hands-on mindset and problem-solving nature, Gustavo knew it was the right fit. He went back to school, learned the trade and hasn’t looked back since. Today, as a Senior Technician at Wright Home Services, he’s proud to use his skills to help people and make a difference in his community.

Gustavo’s Approach To Service

To Gustavo, excellent customer service is rooted in honesty and effort. He believes in always helping others, going the extra mile and giving his best on every job. Whether he’s repairing a system or educating a homeowner, his goal is to leave each customer feeling cared for and confident in the work done.

Family And Inspiration

Gustavo’s greatest motivation comes from his family. Everything he does — from mastering his craft to growing in his career — is driven by a desire to be better for them. Meeting new people every day is one of his favorite parts of the job, but coming home to his loved ones, including his dog, Max, is what truly keeps him grounded.

Living The “Pura Vida” Way

Outside of work, Gustavo lives by the Costa Rican motto of Pura Vida — a phrase that means “pure life” and carries a deeper sense of gratitude, optimism and joy in everyday moments. In Costa Rica, it’s more than a saying. It’s a mindset about slowing down, being kind and appreciating the simple things.

Gustavo brings that same energy to life in San Antonio. He enjoys traveling, running, playing soccer and surfing whenever he can, always seeking new experiences and good company. For him, life is about creating memories, welcoming adventure and sharing positivity wherever he goes.
